Job Description
Adron Homes & Properties is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Project Accountant to join our finance team in Maryland, Lagos. This pivotal role will be instrumental in managing the financial health and reporting for our diverse portfolio of real estate development projects. The Project Accountant will be responsible for overseeing all financial transactions related to specific projects, from initial budgeting and cost tracking to final reconciliation. You will work closely with project managers, procurement, and other internal departments to ensure accurate financial reporting, adherence to project budgets, and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities
- Manage all financial aspects of assigned projects, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
- Prepare and analyze project financial reports, including actual vs. budget performance, variance analysis, and cash flow projections.
- Monitor project expenses, ensuring accuracy, proper coding, and compliance with company policies and project contracts.
- Process and review invoices, payment applications, and expense reports related to projects.
- Facilitate timely billing and revenue recognition for projects, ensuring accuracy and adherence to contractual terms.
- Reconcile project-related accounts, including bank statements, vendor accounts, and sub-contractor balances.
- Collaborate with project managers to provide financial insights, identify potential risks, and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain comprehensive project financial files and documentation for audit purposes.
- Assist in the preparation for internal and external audits related to project financials.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards (IFRS/GAAP) and regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the finance department.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in project accounting, preferably within the real estate or construction industry.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles (IFRS/GAAP) and project cost accounting methods.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Sage) and advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CPA) is a significant advantage.
