Border Paving Ltd. is seeking a dedicated and proactive Project Tracking Analyst to join our team in Red Deer, Alberta. In this critical full-time role, you will be instrumental in monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on the progress and financial health of our diverse range of construction projects.
The Project Tracking Analyst will work closely with project managers, site supervisors, and finance teams to gather, process, and interpret project data. Your primary objective will be to provide accurate, timely, and insightful reports that highlight key performance indicators, identify potential risks, and inform strategic decision-making. This involves meticulous tracking of project schedules, budgets, resource allocation, and actual versus planned progress. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain robust project tracking systems and tools.
- Collect, compile, and analyze project data related to schedules, budgets, resource utilization, and progress.
- Prepare detailed weekly, monthly, and ad-hoc project performance reports for management and stakeholders.
- Monitor actual project costs against budget, identify variances, and investigate discrepancies to ensure financial control.
- Assist project managers in developing accurate project forecasts and earned value management reports.
- Ensure the integrity and accuracy of all project-related data and documentation across multiple platforms.
- Identify potential project risks and issues, and collaborate with project teams to develop effective mitigation strategies.
- Support the implementation and continuous improvement of project management methodologies and best practices.
- Facilitate regular project review meetings, capturing key discussions, decisions, and action items for follow-up.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a project tracking, data analysis, or project coordination role, preferably within the construction, engineering, or heavy industry sectors.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially advanced Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data visualization, complex formulas).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Demonstrated ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of presenting complex data clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6, JIRA, or similar).
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines effectively in a results-oriented setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-secondary education (diploma or degree) in Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Viewpoint) for data extraction and reporting.
- PMP, CAPM, or other relevant project management certifications.
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- In-depth knowledge of construction project lifecycle and industry-specific terminology.
