As a Public Safety Dispatcher, you will be the critical first point of contact for individuals experiencing emergencies, playing an indispensable role in ensuring the safety and security of our community. Key Responsibilities
- Receive and accurately process incoming emergency (e.g., 112) and non-emergency calls for service, obtaining all necessary information.
- Prioritize calls based on the nature and severity of the incident, adhering to established protocols.
- Dispatch appropriate public safety units (police, fire, EMS) to incident locations in a timely and efficient manner.
- Provide clear, concise, and professional pre-arrival instructions to callers during medical or critical incidents.
- Operate and maintain Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems, logging all activities and maintaining precise records.
- Monitor multiple radio frequencies and communicate effectively with field personnel, relaying critical information.
- Track the status and location of responding units, ensuring optimal resource allocation.
- Remain calm and composed during high-stress situations, demonstrating empathy and professionalism towards callers.
- Collaborate seamlessly with other dispatchers, supervisors, and external agencies.
- Perform administrative tasks as required, including data entry and report generation.
Required Skills
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in Portuguese; proficiency in local dialects is highly advantageous.
- Proven ability to multi-task effectively in a dynamic, high-pressure environment.
- Strong active listening skills and the capacity to quickly ascertain critical information.
- Sound decision-making abilities with the capacity for rapid and accurate judgment.
- Proficiency in computer operation, including data entry and basic software applications.
- In-depth geographical knowledge of Mutivaze, Nacala, and surrounding areas.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
