Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and meticulous Quality Control Inspector to join our dedicated team at Hwange Colliery Company Limited. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring that all our coal products meet stringent quality specifications and industry standards before leaving our facility. This position involves comprehensive inspection, testing, and documentation of coal quality at various stages of production, from raw material to finished product. You will be instrumental in identifying and addressing any deviations from quality standards, implementing corrective actions, and contributing to our continuous improvement initiatives. The Quality Control Inspector will work closely with production, processing, and laboratory teams to uphold HCC’s commitment to delivering superior quality products to our customers. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular inspections and tests on raw coal, washed coal, and final products to ensure adherence to established quality specifications.
- Perform physical and chemical analyses on coal samples using standard laboratory procedures and equipment.
- Monitor production processes to identify potential quality issues and recommend preventive or corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all inspection activities, test results, and quality data.
- Prepare comprehensive quality control reports for management and relevant departments.
- Investigate customer complaints related to product quality and assist in determining root causes and implementing solutions.
- Ensure all testing equipment is calibrated, well-maintained, and operating accurately.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to troubleshoot quality problems and implement process improvements.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, as well as environmental regulations.
- Participate in the development and review of quality control procedures and standards.
- Provide training and guidance to junior staff on quality control best practices.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in quality control, preferably in a mining, metallurgical, or heavy industrial environment.
- Proficiency in laboratory testing techniques for coal (e.g., proximate analysis, calorific value, sieve analysis).
- Strong understanding of quality management systems and methodologies.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Ability to interpret technical data, specifications, and blueprints.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) for data recording and reporting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a demanding environment.

Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Chemistry, Metallurgy, Mining Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience with ISO 9001 quality management systems.
