Job Description
Leidos is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Remote Government Contract Specialist to join our dynamic team, operating from a home office base within Austin, Texas. In this crucial role, you will be instrumental in supporting our extensive portfolio of government contracts, ensuring compliance, managing contractual agreements, and contributing to the overall success of our projects. As a Government Contract Specialist, you will leverage your expertise in federal acquisition regulations (FAR) and defense federal acquisition regulations supplement (DFARS) to navigate complex contractual landscapes, from proposal submission through contract closeout. This remote position offers the flexibility of working from home while remaining a vital part of our collaborative and supportive team environment. You will be responsible for a wide array of activities, including contract negotiation, administration, interpretation, and compliance monitoring. Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full lifecycle of government contracts, from solicitation review and proposal support to negotiation, award, administration, and closeout.
- Ensure strict compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), agency-specific regulations, and company policies.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for contractual matters with government contracting officers and internal project teams.
- Review, analyze, and interpret terms and conditions of contracts to identify potential risks and opportunities.
- Prepare, submit, and negotiate contract modifications, change orders, and other contractual documents.
- Provide expert guidance and support to program managers and business development teams on contractual issues and strategies.
- Maintain accurate and complete contract files and documentation in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in audits and reviews related to contract compliance and performance.
- Develop and implement contract management best practices and procedures.
- Support proposal efforts by reviewing solicitations (RFPs/RFQs), identifying contractual requirements, and assisting with proposal development.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in government contract administration or management.
- Demonstrated expertise and in-depth understanding of FAR and DFARS.
- Proven ability to negotiate complex contractual terms and conditions.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex contractual issues clearly.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote work environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Legal Studies, Finance, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or Juris Doctorate (JD).
- Certified Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM) or Federal Contracts Manager (CFCM) certification.
- Experience with various contract types including FFP, CPFF, T&M, and IDIQ.
- Familiarity with government accounting practices and cost principles.
- Experience working with a major government contractor.
