Job Description

Are you a seasoned media relations expert with a knack for crafting compelling narratives and securing high-impact coverage? Red Square Agency is seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Remote Media Relations Manager to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal full-time role, you will be instrumental in shaping public perception and enhancing the visibility of our diverse portfolio of clients across various industries. This fully remote position offers the flexibility to work from anywhere, allowing you to leverage your expertise to build strong relationships with media contacts, develop strategic PR plans, and generate positive press without the constraints of a daily commute. You will be responsible for identifying key media opportunities, proactively pitching stories, coordinating interviews, and monitoring media coverage to ensure our clients’ messages resonate effectively with their target audiences. We are looking for a proactive communicator, a strategic thinker, and a meticulous planner who can thrive in a fast-paced agency environment and consistently deliver exceptional outcomes. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive media relations strategies for a diverse client portfolio.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, producers, and influencers across various media channels (print, broadcast, online, social).
  • Identify compelling story angles and proactively pitch clients to relevant media outlets to secure earned media coverage.
  • Write and edit high-quality press releases, media alerts, talking points, pitches, and other communication materials.
  • Coordinate and facilitate media interviews, press conferences, and media events.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on media coverage and campaign performance, providing insights and recommendations for optimization.
  • Provide media training and counsel to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, news cycles, and competitive landscape to identify new opportunities and potential challenges.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with account managers, creative teams, and digital strategists to ensure integrated communication efforts.
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced agency environment.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in media relations or public relations, preferably within an agency setting.
  • Proven track record of securing significant media placements in national, regional, and trade publications.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a keen eye for detail and compelling storytelling.
  • Strong understanding of the media landscape, including traditional, digital, and social media channels.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with media contacts.
  • Proficiency in media monitoring and reporting tools (e.g., Cision, Meltwater, Agility PR Solutions).
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and implement effective PR plans.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote team environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Experience working with clients across diverse industries such as healthcare, tech, consumer goods, or B2B.
  • Familiarity with crisis communication and issues management.
  • Experience with content creation for various platforms beyond traditional media pitches.
  • Fluency in additional languages is a plus.
