RWS Group is seeking a dedicated Remote Patent Support Partner to join our dynamic and expanding team. In this pivotal remote role, you will play a crucial part in managing and maintaining our clients’ valuable patent portfolios from the comfort of your home office, working within UK business hours. This position is ideal for an experienced individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and possesses an in-depth understanding of patent lifecycle management.

As a Remote Patent Support Partner, you will provide comprehensive administrative and paralegal support to our patent attorneys and agents, ensuring the smooth progression of patent applications and maintenance tasks. You will be instrumental in managing complex patent documentation, tracking critical deadlines, and facilitating seamless communication between our legal teams, clients, and international patent offices. Leveraging your expertise, you will contribute directly to safeguarding our clients’ innovations and helping them navigate the intricate world of global intellectual property. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain patent dockets, ensuring all deadlines are accurately tracked and met.
  • Prepare, file, and prosecute patent applications in various jurisdictions, including liaising with patent offices.
  • Draft and review patent-related correspondence, legal documents, and official forms.
  • Conduct preliminary patent research and assist attorneys with patentability searches and freedom-to-operate analyses.
  • Coordinate with clients, inventors, and foreign associates regarding patent matters.
  • Organize and maintain electronic and physical patent files and databases with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Process invoices, expense reports, and manage billing for intellectual property services.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations for clients and internal teams.
  • Stay informed of changes in patent law, regulations, and procedural requirements.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in patent support or IP paralegal role.
  • Strong understanding of the patent lifecycle, including filing, prosecution, and maintenance.
  • Proficiency with IP management software (e.g., Anaqua, Patrix, CPI, Lecorpio).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a remote environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a virtual team.
  • High level of discretion and ability to handle confidential information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Paralegal certification or equivalent qualification in intellectual property law.
  • Experience with international patent filing procedures (PCT, EP, national phase entries).
  • Familiarity with legal technology and e-discovery tools.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Law, Science, Engineering).
  • Knowledge of other intellectual property rights (trademarks, designs, copyright).
