Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Remote Social Impact Researcher to join our dynamic team, focusing on projects across the UK. This pivotal role will involve conducting comprehensive research to inform our social finance initiatives and advisory services, working remotely from any location within the UK, with Wolverton, Milton Keynes designated as the administrative hub for this role. As a Social Impact Researcher, you will be instrumental in gathering, analysing, and interpreting data to understand complex social issues, evaluate the effectiveness of interventions, and identify opportunities for innovative social investment. You will be responsible for designing research methodologies, leading data collection efforts (qualitative and quantitative), performing rigorous analysis, and translating findings into actionable insights for diverse audiences, including policymakers, investors, and social service providers. This position requires a keen eye for detail, strong analytical capabilities, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a genuine passion for creating positive social change. You will work collaboratively with project teams, contributing your expertise to help shape strategies that deliver lasting impact across various social sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement robust research methodologies for social impact projects, including literature reviews, surveys, interviews, and focus groups.
  • Collect, clean, and analyse quantitative and qualitative data using appropriate statistical and analytical software.
  • Develop comprehensive research reports, policy briefs, presentations, and other communication materials for diverse stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development of impact measurement frameworks and theories of change for new and existing programmes.
  • Engage with external partners, subject matter experts, and beneficiaries to gather insights and validate research findings.
  • Monitor and evaluate the social and economic impact of interventions, producing evidence-based recommendations.
  • Stay abreast of current research, policy developments, and best practices in social impact measurement and related fields.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (minimum 3 years) in social research, impact evaluation, or a related field.
  • Strong proficiency in both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies.
  • Expertise in data analysis software (e.g., R, Stata, SPSS, NVivo) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with experience drafting professional reports and presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex data and research findings into clear, actionable insights.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines independently.
  • A deep understanding of social issues and the UK social sector context.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or PhD in a relevant field such as Social Policy, Economics, Sociology, Public Health, or Development Studies.
  • Experience working with social investment or innovative finance models.
  • Familiarity with ethical guidelines for research involving vulnerable populations.
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement and facilitation.
