Job Description

Are you a highly organized, detail-oriented travel enthusiast with a knack for precision and exceptional customer service? Flight Centre Travel Group is seeking a dedicated Remote Ticketing Agent to join our dynamic team, operating from the comfort and convenience of your home office in Beaufort West, Western Cape. In this crucial role, you will be the cornerstone of our travel operations, responsible for accurately processing flight bookings, issuing tickets, managing complex itineraries, and ensuring seamless travel experiences for our diverse clientele.

This isn’t just about booking flights; it’s about crafting the beginning of someone’s adventure or ensuring their business trip runs without a hitch. You will be an expert in Global Distribution Systems (GDS), navigating fare rules, airline policies, and international travel regulations with ease. Your day will involve handling new bookings, modifications, cancellations, and reissues, all while providing empathetic and efficient support to our clients. You will resolve booking discrepancies, address customer queries regarding visas, baggage, and travel insurance, and proactively communicate any changes or updates that might impact their journey.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process and issue flight tickets, reissues, and refunds accurately using Global Distribution Systems (GDS) like Amadeus, Galileo, or Sabre.
  • Manage and modify existing travel itineraries, including flight changes, cancellations, and special requests.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and support, addressing client queries via phone, email, and chat.
  • Assist clients with information regarding visa requirements, travel insurance, baggage allowances, and other travel-related inquiries.
  • Ensure all bookings comply with airline rules, fare conditions, and company policies.
  • Proactively communicate changes, delays, or disruptions to clients and provide suitable alternative solutions.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records and booking documentation.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, airline updates, and relevant travel regulations.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and other departments in a remote work environment.
  • Resolve booking discrepancies, billing issues, and customer complaints efficiently and professionally.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in at least one major Global Distribution System (GDS) such as Amadeus, Sabre, or Galileo.
  • Minimum of 1 year proven experience as a Ticketing Agent, Travel Consultant, or similar role.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and maintain productivity in a remote setting.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Customer-centric approach with a strong commitment to service excellence.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Reliable high-speed internet connection and a dedicated home office setup.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Travel and Tourism Diploma or equivalent certification.
  • Previous experience working in a fully remote or hybrid work environment.
  • Fluency in an additional South African language (e.g., Afrikaans, Xhosa, Zulu).
  • Knowledge of international travel regulations, visa processes, and cultural nuances.
  • Experience with CRM software and virtual communication tools.
