Key Responsibilities

  • Execute all menu items according to Salt & Time's recipes, quality standards, and portion control guidelines.
  • Perform precise mise en place, including chopping, slicing, and preparing ingredients for service.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work station and kitchen area at all times, adhering to all food safety regulations (HACCP standards).
  • Monitor food levels and stock, communicating inventory needs to ensure smooth operation.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including grills, fryers, ovens, and mixers.
  • Collaborate effectively with kitchen staff, front-of-house team, and management to ensure timely and efficient service.
  • Assist with receiving and storing food deliveries, ensuring proper rotation and storage techniques.
  • Contribute to a positive and respectful kitchen culture, fostering teamwork and professional development.
  • Handle special dietary requests and modifications as needed, ensuring guest satisfaction.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Cook or Line Cook in a professional kitchen environment.
  • Demonstrated strong knife skills and proficiency in various cooking techniques.
  • Thorough understanding of food safety and sanitation procedures.
  • Ability to work efficiently and calmly in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in a hot kitchen environment.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Culinary degree or relevant vocational training.
  • Experience in restaurants focusing on butchery, charcuterie, or farm-to-table cuisine.
  • Knowledge of various international cuisines.
  • Bilingual proficiency (e.g., Spanish/English).
  • Certification in Food Protection/Food Handler's Permit (or ability to obtain quickly).
