Career.zycto is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Retirement Home Activity Director to join our compassionate team in Keeshkeemaquah. This pivotal full-time role involves designing, implementing, and overseeing a dynamic range of engaging activities and programs that enrich the lives of our residents. As the Activity Director, you will be instrumental in fostering a vibrant, supportive, and stimulating environment, promoting physical, social, intellectual, and spiritual well-being among our senior community. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive calendar of engaging activities and programs for residents, ensuring variety and catering to diverse interests and cognitive/physical abilities.
- Lead and facilitate group and individual activities, including recreational, social, intellectual, physical, and spiritual programs.
- Assess residents' interests, needs, and preferences through observation, interviews, and family input to tailor programming effectively.
- Manage the activity department budget, procure supplies, and maintain equipment in good working order.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and mentor activity assistants and volunteers, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.
- Coordinate special events, holiday celebrations, and community outings, arranging transportation and necessary logistics.
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation, attendance, and program evaluations, adapting offerings as needed.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to integrate activity programs into residents' individualized care plans.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff regarding activity schedules and resident engagement.
- Ensure all activities adhere to safety guidelines, licensing regulations, and company policies.
Required Skills
- Minimum 3 years of experience in activity programming or recreation therapy, preferably in a senior living or long-term care setting.
- Proven leadership and supervisory experience, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
- Exceptional creativity, enthusiasm, and a genuine passion for working with seniors.
- Strong organizational skills, including planning, budgeting, and record-keeping.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with diverse individuals.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and scheduling software.
- Ability to adapt programs to meet the varying physical and cognitive needs of residents.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Recreation and Leisure Studies, Gerontology, Therapeutic Recreation, or a related field.
- Certification as an Activity Professional (e.g., NCCAP, CTRS).
- Experience with music therapy, art therapy, or pet therapy programs.
- Knowledge of local community resources and services for seniors.
