As a pivotal member of the drilling team, you will provide crucial hands-on support for all rig-floor operations. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of drilling equipment and tools on the rig floor.
- Handle, connect, and disconnect drilling pipe, casing, and other tubulars under the guidance of the Driller.
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance, cleaning, and painting of the rig floor, tools, and associated equipment.
- Adhere strictly to all company, client, and regulatory health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures.
- Assist with the mixing and circulation of drilling mud and chemicals, ensuring proper consistency and quantity.
- Actively participate in pre-tour, toolbox talk, and all other safety meetings, contributing to a strong safety culture.
- Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and organisation across the rig floor and surrounding work areas.
- Follow precise instructions from the Driller, Assistant Driller, and other senior personnel regarding drilling operations.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or incidents promptly to immediate supervisors.
- Engage fully in all emergency drills, including fire, man overboard, and H2S procedures, demonstrating proficiency.
Required Skills
- Exceptional physical fitness, strength, and stamina to perform demanding manual labour for extended periods.
- Proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a close-knit team in a high-pressure environment.
- Basic understanding of mechanical principles and aptitude for operating heavy machinery.
- Willingness and capability to work long hours, including rotational shifts (e.g., 12-hour shifts, 28/28 days on/off).
- Unwavering commitment to safety protocols and the ability to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
- Capacity to follow complex verbal and written instructions accurately and efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective team interaction and reporting.
- Strong problem-solving aptitude and the ability to react quickly and calmly in unforeseen circumstances.
- Adaptability to varying and often extreme weather conditions and challenging work environments (e.g., offshore platforms).
- Proficiency in English (reading, writing, and speaking) for operational communication and safety briefings.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of previous experience in a heavy industrial, construction, maritime, or oil & gas environment.
- Valid industry certifications such as BOSIET (Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training), HUET (Helicopter Underwater Escape Training), or MIST (Minimum Industry Safety Training) – or willingness to obtain immediately.
- High School Diploma or equivalent vocational qualification.
- Basic First Aid and CPR certification.
- Experience operating forklifts, cranes, or other heavy equipment.
- Valid international travel documents and a clean driving license.
