Key Responsibilities
- Collect and load various waste materials (residential, commercial, recycling) into collection vehicles according to established routes and schedules.
- Operate and maintain specialized sanitation equipment, including compactor mechanisms, hoists, and other tools, in a safe and efficient manner.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment; report any mechanical issues or damage promptly.
- Ensure proper segregation and disposal of waste, adhering to local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
- Navigate collection routes safely, paying close attention to traffic, pedestrians, and property.
- Communicate courteously and professionally with residents and businesses regarding collection services or issues.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and vehicle.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Assist with the manual lifting of heavy items and containers as required.
- Work effectively as part of a team to ensure efficient route completion.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform strenuous physical labor for extended periods, including lifting, bending, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds repeatedly.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions and safety protocols.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic and a commitment to attendance.
- Basic understanding of vehicle operation and safety principles.
