Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming floors in classrooms, offices, hallways, and common areas.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms thoroughly, including toilets, sinks, and mirrors, and replenish all supplies (soap, toilet paper, paper towels).
  • Empty waste bins and dispose of refuse and recycling materials appropriately according to school guidelines.
  • Dust and polish furniture, fixtures, window sills, and other surfaces to maintain a pristine environment.
  • Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using appropriate cleaning solutions and techniques.
  • Ensure all cleaning chemicals, supplies, and equipment are used safely, efficiently, and stored correctly in designated areas.
  • Monitor and report any maintenance issues, damages, broken fixtures, or potential hazards to the appropriate supervisor promptly.
  • Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations, school policies, and environmental standards at all times.
  • Assist during special school events, functions, or deep cleaning projects as required, often involving flexible scheduling.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of cleaning supplies and notify the supervisor proactively when supplies are low or need reordering.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in cleaning or custodial services, with at least 1 year preferably within a school, hospital, or public building setting.
  • Solid knowledge of various cleaning chemicals, supplies, and equipment, including their safe handling, dilution, and usage.
  • Ability to operate basic cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, and pressure washers effectively and safely.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a steadfast commitment to maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
  • Good physical stamina, capable of performing tasks requiring bending, lifting up to 25kg, standing, and walking for extended periods.
  • Reliable, punctual, trustworthy, and possesses a strong sense of responsibility and integrity.
  • Ability to work efficiently and autonomously, as well as collaboratively as an integral part of a larger team.
  • Basic understanding of occupational health and safety procedures and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Leaving Certificate (SSCE) or equivalent qualification.
  • Previous experience specifically working in an educational institution.
  • Certification or training in professional cleaning practices, sanitation, or health and safety.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English (verbal and written) to understand instructions and report issues.
  • A positive and proactive attitude towards work and problem-solving.
