Job Description

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the learning experience for our students, working closely with lead teachers to create an engaging and productive environment. You will support students individually and in small groups, assist with classroom management, and help prepare educational materials. Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, reinforcing learning concepts and assisting with assignments.
- Assist the lead teacher in preparing and organizing classroom materials, displays, and learning resources.
- Help manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive, safe, and orderly learning environment.
- Supervise students during non-classroom activities, such as breaks, lunch, and excursions.
- Support students with special educational needs, adapting activities as directed by the teacher.
- Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and parents as required.
- Assist with the assessment and tracking of student progress under teacher guidance.
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development sessions as appropriate.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and school matters.
Required Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with students, teachers, and parents.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic computer proficiency (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace).
Preferred Qualifications
- A diploma or certificate in Education, Child Development, or a related field.
- Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar educational support role.
- Familiarity with international school curricula (e.g., IB, Cambridge) is a plus.
- Ability to speak Swahili or other local languages.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
