Job Description
We are seeking vigilant, proactive, and customer-focused Security Guards to join our team at a prominent shopping mall located in Cross Roads, Kingston. This crucial role involves maintaining a safe and secure environment for all shoppers, mall tenants, and staff members. As a front-line ambassador for safety, you will be responsible for deterring criminal activity, responding to incidents, enforcing mall policies, and providing assistance during emergencies. The position demands a keen eye for detail, strong observational skills, excellent communication abilities, and the capacity to respond calmly and effectively to a wide range of security situations, from minor disturbances to more serious events. Due to the dynamic nature of retail operations, this role will operate on a rotational shift schedule, which includes evenings, weekends, and public holidays. Flexibility, reliability, and a strong sense of responsibility are essential for success in this role. Key Responsibilities
- Patrol designated areas of the shopping mall, both on foot and via surveillance systems, to detect and prevent unauthorized activities, theft, vandalism, and other security breaches.
- Monitor surveillance cameras and alarm systems, promptly responding to any alerts or suspicious activities.
- Respond effectively to emergency situations, including medical emergencies, fire alarms, and security incidents, coordinating with emergency services as required.
- Enforce mall rules and regulations, ensuring a safe and orderly environment for all visitors and tenants.
- Provide excellent customer service by assisting shoppers and tenants with directions, information, and general inquiries.
- Prepare detailed and accurate incident reports for all security-related occurrences.
- Conduct regular checks of access points, exits, and restricted areas to ensure proper security protocols are maintained.
- Collaborate with mall management, retail staff, and local law enforcement to ensure comprehensive security coverage.
- Assist with crowd control during peak hours, special events, or emergencies.
- Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance while on duty, serving as a visible deterrent to potential threats.
Required Skills
- Valid PSRA License (Private Security Regulation Authority)
- Minimum of 1 year experience in a security role, preferably in a commercial or retail environment
- Excellent observational and analytical skills with a strong attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
- Ability to operate CCTV and other security monitoring equipment
- Physically fit and able to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods
- Proven ability to handle stressful situations calmly and effectively
- Customer service-oriented approach with a professional and friendly demeanor
- Reliable and punctual, with a strong work ethic
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- First Aid and CPR certification
- Previous experience in a shopping mall or large public venue
- Proficiency in basic computer applications
