Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular and thorough patrols of the entire store premises, including sales floors, stockrooms, parking areas, and exterior perimeter, to ensure a secure environment at all times.
- Monitor advanced surveillance cameras and sophisticated alarm systems, promptly identifying, investigating, and reporting any suspicious activities, unauthorized access, or potential security breaches.
- Strictly enforce company security policies and procedures to proactively prevent theft, vandalism, shoplifting, fraudulent activities, and other criminal acts.
- Respond effectively and rapidly to alarms, security incidents, and various emergencies, including basic first aid situations, conflicts between individuals, or fire alarms, strictly following established protocols and escalating as necessary.
- Assist customers and staff with security-related concerns, providing a highly visible deterrent to crime and offering a reassuring presence within the store.
- Complete detailed, accurate, and timely incident reports and comprehensive daily logs, ensuring thorough documentation of all security activities, observations, and responses.
- Collaborate effectively with local law enforcement agencies when necessary, assisting in investigations by providing relevant information, evidence, and witness statements.
- Manage and control access points, ensuring that only authorized personnel and vehicles enter restricted areas of the premises.
- Conduct respectful and efficient bag and parcel checks as per established company policy, maintaining customer dignity while upholding security standards.
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times, consistently representing Shoprite Lesotho with the utmost integrity and professionalism.
Required Skills
- Proven ability to observe critically, identify potential risks, and report security risks and incidents accurately and promptly.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Sesotho for effective reporting and interaction.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to handle diverse situations and interact with individuals from various backgrounds professionally and empathetically.
- Ability to work effectively both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as a valuable member of a team.
- Basic computer literacy for efficient report writing, email communication, and monitoring security systems.
- Demonstrated physical fitness and stamina to conduct extended patrols and stand for prolonged periods.
- Sound judgment and strong decision-making capabilities, especially under pressure and during critical incidents.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of progressive experience in a security role, preferably within a fast-paced retail or commercial environment.
- Possession of a valid Security Guard certification or equivalent recognized training from a reputable institution.
- Current Basic First Aid and CPR certification.
- Comprehensive knowledge of local security laws, regulations, and best practices relevant to retail environments in Lesotho.
- Prior hands-on experience with CCTV monitoring and advanced access control systems.
