Job Description
Are you a vigilant, proactive, and experienced security professional ready to take on a leadership role in one of Lesotho’s most picturesque and dynamic environments? Semonkong Lodge is seeking a dedicated and reliable Security Supervisor to join our team with an immediate start. In this critical role, you will be instrumental in maintaining a secure and safe environment for our guests, staff, and property. You will lead a small team of security personnel, overseeing daily operations, implementing robust security protocols, and responding swiftly and effectively to any security concerns. This position demands a keen eye for detail, strong leadership capabilities, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of safety and professionalism. You will be at the forefront of protecting our serene lodge, ensuring that every visitor enjoys their stay without compromise to their safety or comfort. The ability to work independently, make sound decisions under pressure, and foster a culture of vigilance and awareness among your team and the wider lodge staff is paramount. Your role will involve both strategic planning and hands-on execution, adapting to the unique challenges and opportunities presented by our stunning, yet occasionally remote, location. Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, train, and mentor a team of security guards, ensuring adherence to lodge policies and security procedures.
- Develop, implement, and enforce comprehensive security plans, patrols, and emergency response protocols specific to a lodge environment.
- Conduct regular patrols of the lodge premises, including guest areas, staff quarters, outbuildings, and perimeters, identifying and mitigating potential security risks.
- Monitor CCTV systems and other surveillance equipment effectively, responding promptly to any suspicious activities or incidents.
- Investigate and report on all security incidents, accidents, and suspicious activities, maintaining detailed records and communicating findings to management.
- Liaise with local law enforcement and emergency services as required, fostering strong working relationships.
- Ensure the proper functioning and maintenance of all security equipment and systems.
- Provide first aid and emergency response assistance when necessary, coordinating with relevant personnel.
- Manage access control systems for staff, contractors, and visitors, ensuring only authorized individuals enter designated areas.
- Conduct regular security briefings and training sessions for staff on awareness and emergency procedures.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of security policies and procedures, staying abreast of best practices.
- Act as a visible and reassuring presence for guests and staff, addressing their security concerns professionally.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 3 years) in a supervisory security role, preferably within the hospitality, tourism, or remote site management sectors.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities, with a track record of motivating and developing staff.
- Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to remain calm, decisive, and effective under pressure.
- Proficiency in written and verbal communication in English; knowledge of Sesotho is a significant advantage.
- Familiarity with CCTV systems, access control, and other security technologies.
- Sound knowledge of security protocols, incident reporting, and emergency procedures.
- Physical fitness and the ability to perform regular patrols, often in varying weather conditions and terrain.
- Valid driver's license.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant security management certifications or diplomas.
- Experience working in a remote or rural environment.
- Knowledge of fire safety regulations and procedures.
- Additional language proficiency (e.g., Afrikaans).
- Experience with risk assessment and mitigation strategies tailored to outdoor adventure activities.
