Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Accountant to join our Corporate Finance team in Ardenne, Kingston. This is a critical role responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, contributing to robust financial reporting, and supporting strategic financial planning. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in preparing consolidated financial statements, conducting in-depth financial analysis, and ensuring compliance with local and international accounting standards. You will work closely with various departments, providing crucial financial insights and contributing to process improvements that enhance efficiency and control. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
- Perform in-depth general ledger account reconciliations and analysis, ensuring data integrity and resolving discrepancies promptly.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses, providing insightful explanations for deviations.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation and responding to auditor queries.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant tax regulations and assist with the preparation of tax filings.
- Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes and internal controls to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Provide financial analysis and support for special projects, strategic initiatives, and investment evaluations.
- Collaborate with other departments to gather financial data and provide guidance on accounting matters.
- Mentor junior accounting staff, fostering their professional development and ensuring adherence to best practices.
- Stay abreast of changes in accounting standards and regulatory requirements, ensuring continuous compliance.
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in an accounting or finance role, preferably in corporate finance.
- Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, financial modeling).
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional accounting designation (CPA, ACCA, CMA).
- Experience in the FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) or Financial Services industry.
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
- Master's degree in Finance or Business Administration.
