Job Description

Are you a seasoned cybersecurity professional with a passion for safeguarding critical infrastructure? Econet Wireless, Zimbabwe’s leading telecommunications company, is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Senior Infrastructure Security Lead to join our dynamic team in Mutare, Manicaland Province. This pivotal role involves spearheading the design, implementation, and management of robust security measures across our extensive IT and network infrastructure, ensuring the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of our systems and data.

As the Senior Infrastructure Security Lead, you will be at the forefront of protecting our digital assets against evolving cyber threats. Your responsibilities will extend beyond mere oversight; you will actively participate in architectural reviews, ensuring that security is woven into the very fabric of our infrastructure from inception. You will be instrumental in developing and enforcing comprehensive security policies, standards, and procedures that align with industry best practices and regulatory requirements. This role also demands proactive leadership in conducting rigorous security assessments, managing penetration testing engagements, and overseeing vulnerability management initiatives. Your acute ability to identify potential risks, design resilient preventative controls, and orchestrate an effective response to security incidents will be crucial in maintaining our operational integrity. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including network engineering, IT operations, software development, and compliance, to seamlessly integrate security best practices throughout the entire lifecycle of our infrastructure. A deep understanding of industry-leading security frameworks like NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) Cybersecurity Framework, ISO 27001, and other relevant regulatory compliance requirements is absolutely essential. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of robust security architectures for IT and network infrastructure.
  • Develop, review, and enforce comprehensive security policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Conduct regular security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration tests to identify and remediate weaknesses.
  • Manage and respond to security incidents, including investigation, containment, eradication, recovery, and post-mortem analysis.
  • Oversee identity and access management (IAM) solutions and privileged access management (PAM) systems.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant security frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001) and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and development teams to integrate security into all stages of the system lifecycle (SecDevOps).
  • Evaluate and implement new security technologies and tools to enhance our defense capabilities.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior security team members.
  • Stay current with emerging threats, security technologies, and industry best practices.

Required Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of network security protocols and technologies (e.g., firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPN, SIEM).
  • Expertise in cloud security architectures and best practices (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Proficiency in security frameworks and compliance standards (NIST, ISO 27001).
  • Demonstrated experience with vulnerability management and penetration testing methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of identity and access management (IAM) and authentication protocols.
  • Solid experience in incident response, forensic analysis, and security event management.
  • Proficiency in securing operating systems (Linux, Windows Server) and database environments.
  • Ability to analyze complex technical problems and provide effective security solutions.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Experience with scripting/automation (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for security tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant professional security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CCSP, OSCP, CEH).
  • Master's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Previous experience within the telecommunications industry or a large-scale enterprise environment.
  • Familiarity with the Zimbabwean regulatory and data protection landscape.
  • Experience implementing and managing Data Loss Prevention (DLP) solutions.
  • Knowledge of secure coding practices and application security principles.
