Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated Full-Time Sleep Technologist to join our dynamic healthcare team in Hamilton, Ontario. This vital role involves conducting comprehensive polysomnographic studies, ensuring accurate data acquisition, and providing exceptional patient care in a comfortable and supportive environment. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for polysomnography (PSG) and other sleep diagnostic procedures, including electrode placement and equipment setup.
- Monitor sleep studies, observe patient behavior, and ensure the accurate acquisition of physiological data (EEG, EOG, EMG, ECG, respiratory effort, oximetry).
- Identify and troubleshoot technical problems with equipment during studies to ensure data integrity.
- Score sleep stages and respiratory events according to AASM guidelines, preparing comprehensive reports for physician interpretation.
- Educate patients on the procedures, equipment, and general sleep hygiene practices.
- Maintain and calibrate equipment, ensuring proper functioning and adherence to safety standards.
- Document all aspects of patient care, study procedures, and observations accurately and thoroughly in electronic medical records.
Required Skills
- Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) certification.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Proficiency in polysomnography equipment operation and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of sleep stages, respiratory events, and cardiac arrhythmias.
- Excellent patient communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and strong analytical abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a healthcare team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree or higher in a related healthcare field.
- Previous experience with a variety of sleep diagnostic software platforms.
- Experience in pediatric sleep studies.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
