Career.zycto is on the lookout for a dedicated and proactive Security Operations Centre (SOC) Analyst to join our expanding cybersecurity team in Tynemouth, Newcastle upon Tyne. Key Responsibilities
- Monitor security systems and tools (SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR) for security events, alerts, and potential incidents 24/7 (on a rotational shift basis, if applicable).
- Analyze security alerts, logs, and network traffic to identify, investigate, and confirm security incidents.
- Perform initial triage, containment, eradication, and recovery activities for detected security incidents.
- Document incident details, findings, and remediation steps in accordance with established procedures.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of incident response playbooks, security policies, and procedures.
- Stay current with the latest threat intelligence, vulnerabilities, and cybersecurity trends.
- Participate in vulnerability assessments and penetration testing activities, as required.
- Collaborate with IT and other teams to implement security controls and provide security recommendations.
- Assist in security audits and compliance efforts.
- Provide mentorship and support to junior analysts (if applicable).
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a SOC Analyst or in a similar cybersecurity role.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, network security, operating systems (Windows, Linux), and common attack techniques.
- Experience with SIEM platforms (e.g., Splunk, Elastic SIEM, IBM QRadar) for log analysis and alert correlation.
- Familiarity with incident response methodologies and frameworks (e.g., NIST, SANS).
- Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation and analysis.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure during security incidents.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant cybersecurity certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CySA+, CEH, GIAC certifications).
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field.
