Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of individuals and families to identify needs, risks, and strengths.
- Develop, implement, and review personalised care plans in collaboration with clients and relevant agencies.
- Provide direct support, counselling, and crisis intervention to vulnerable individuals and families.
- Safeguard children and adults at risk, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and policies.
- Maintain accurate, detailed, and up-to-date case records and prepare reports for various stakeholders, including court proceedings.
- Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners, including health professionals, educators, and legal services.
- Attend and contribute to case conferences, team meetings, and supervision sessions.
- Advocate for clients' rights and access to services, promoting their independence and well-being.
- Stay informed of current legislation, policies, and best practices in social work.
- Manage a diverse caseload effectively, prioritizing tasks and managing time efficiently.
Required Skills
- Qualified Social Worker with a recognised degree in Social Work (BA, MA, DipSW, CQSW).
- Registered with Social Work England (or eligible for registration).
- Demonstrable experience in a frontline social work role, preferably within a local authority or similar setting.
- Thorough understanding of relevant legislation, including the Children Act, Care Act, and Mental Health Act.
- Excellent assessment, analytical, and report writing skills.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Proficiency in using IT systems for case management and record keeping.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a car for work purposes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-qualifying award in Social Work or relevant specialisation.
- Experience in specific areas such as child protection, adult safeguarding, or mental health social work.
- Knowledge of local community resources and services in Reading and Berkshire.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor or support less experienced colleagues.
