Main Event Entertainment Group Ltd. is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Entry-Level Stage Lighting Assistant to join our vibrant technical team in Coopers Hill, St. Andrew. Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior lighting technicians with the setup, rigging, focusing, and programming of stage lighting fixtures and control systems.
- Help with the safe loading and unloading of lighting equipment from trucks and into event venues.
- Perform routine checks and basic maintenance on lighting equipment to ensure optimal functionality and safety.
- Run and secure power cables and DMX lines, ensuring neatness and safety protocols are strictly followed.
- Operate follow spots and other basic lighting elements during live performances and events under supervision.
- Assist in the dismantling and packing of lighting gear post-event, ensuring all components are accounted for and stored properly.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, both in the warehouse and on event sites.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety guidelines and industry best practices for rigging and electrical work.
- Actively participate in training sessions and learn about new technologies and techniques in stage lighting.
- Collaborate effectively with other technical departments (audio, video, staging) to ensure seamless event execution.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Basic understanding of electrical concepts (e.g., voltage, current) is a plus, but not mandatory.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
- Comfortable working at heights on ladders or lifts (with proper safety training).
- Strong work ethic and a proactive attitude towards learning and problem-solving.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a flexible approach to working hours, including evenings and weekends.
- A genuine interest in stage lighting, live events, and technical production.
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid Jamaican driver's license (Asset).
- Basic knowledge of hand tools and power tools.
- Previous experience in a theatre, school production, or volunteer event setting.
- Enrollment or completion of a technical vocational program in electronics, electrical installation, or a related field.
- Familiarity with DMX cabling and basic lighting terminology.
