Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all aspects of stage operations during rehearsals, technical runs, and live performances.
- Create, maintain, and distribute comprehensive production schedules, rehearsal reports, and detailed show paperwork.
- Accurately call cues for lighting, sound, scenic changes, automation, and performer entrances during all performances.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all cast, crew, and audience members, strictly adhering to all relevant Work Health and Safety (WHS) regulations and venue policies.
- Facilitate clear and effective communication channels between directors, designers, performers, and all technical departments.
- Oversee the meticulous management of stage props, set pieces, costumes, and all backstage equipment.
- Manage the budget pertaining to stage management activities and expenditures, ensuring cost-effectiveness.
- Proactively identify and resolve unforeseen issues and challenges efficiently and calmly during productions.
- Conduct thorough pre-show checks and lead comprehensive post-show debriefs.
- Supervise and mentor assistant stage managers and production interns.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of proven experience as a Stage Manager in a professional theatre or live event setting.
- Exceptional organizational, planning, and time management abilities.
- Strong leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication proficiency.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting production designs, floor plans, and comprehensive schedules.
- Comprehensive knowledge of theatrical terminology, stage equipment, and safety protocols (WHS).
- Demonstrated ability to remain calm, decisive, and effective under high-pressure situations.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Technical Theatre, Stage Management, or a related performing arts field.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Experience with specific stage management software (e.g., QLab, Microsoft Project, Smartsheet).
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex budgets and allocate resources effectively.
- Valid Australian Driver's License and access to reliable transport.
