As a State Trooper, you will be on the front lines, acting as a visible and reassuring presence in our communities. Your duties will be diverse and challenging, ranging from enforcing traffic laws on state highways, investigating accidents, and responding to emergency calls, to participating in criminal investigations and supporting local law enforcement agencies. Key Responsibilities
- Enforce traffic laws and regulations on state highways and interstates.
- Investigate traffic accidents and prepare detailed reports.
- Respond to emergency calls and provide assistance to the public.
- Conduct criminal investigations, make arrests, and prepare cases for prosecution.
- Patrol assigned areas to deter criminal activity and maintain public order.
- Participate in community outreach programs and foster positive public relations.
- Provide testimony in court as required.
- Maintain proficiency with firearms and other law enforcement equipment.
- Uphold all departmental policies, procedures, and legal statutes.
Required Skills
- Strong moral character and integrity

- Valid Mississippi Driver's License
- U.S. Citizenship
- Ability to pass comprehensive background checks, psychological evaluation, and physical fitness assessment
- High school diploma or GED
- Age 21 or older at time of graduation from the academy
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or a related field
- Prior military service or experience in a public safety capacity
- Bilingual proficiency (especially Spanish)
- Experience in de-escalation techniques
