Career.zycto is actively recruiting for a highly skilled and safety-conscious Structural Steel Welder to join a dynamic fabrication team in Downtown, Shelton. In this challenging position, you will be responsible for a comprehensive range of welding and fabrication tasks. Your primary duties will include meticulously interpreting engineering blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols to understand project requirements and specifications. You will accurately measure, cut, and prepare steel components for assembly, utilizing various tools and machinery. The core of your role will involve executing high-quality welds using diverse processes such as Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW/Stick), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW/MIG), and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW/TIG), on structural steel members of varying thicknesses and complexities. Precision is paramount, as you will be ensuring tight tolerances and structural integrity in every joint.

Beyond welding, you will conduct post-weld inspections to identify any imperfections, porosity, or cracks, making necessary repairs to ensure welds meet stringent industry standards (e.g., AWS D1.1). Maintaining welding equipment, ensuring its optimal function, and promptly reporting any malfunctions will also be part of your routine. Adherence to all company and OSHA safety regulations is non-negotiable, contributing to a secure working environment for yourself and your colleagues. Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols accurately.
  • Measure, cut, and prepare structural steel components for welding.
  • Perform various welding processes (SMAW, GMAW, GTAW) on structural steel.
  • Ensure welds meet specific quality standards and structural integrity requirements (e.g., AWS D1.1).
  • Conduct post-weld inspections and perform necessary repairs or finishing.
  • Operate and maintain welding equipment and tools safely and effectively.
  • Adhere strictly to all company safety protocols and OSHA regulations.
  • Collaborate with fabrication team members to meet project deadlines.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in SMAW (Stick), GMAW (MIG), and GTAW (TIG) welding processes.
  • Demonstrated experience with structural steel fabrication.
