Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Steel Fabricator to join our workshop production team in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County. As a crucial member of our fabrication department, you will be responsible for transforming raw materials into high-quality finished products and structural components. This role demands a keen eye for detail, a strong commitment to safety, and a comprehensive understanding of various fabrication techniques. You will work on diverse projects, ranging from custom metalwork to large-scale industrial structures, contributing directly to our reputation for excellence. The ideal candidate will possess a solid background in metal fabrication, including cutting, bending, welding, and finishing processes, and be proficient in interpreting technical drawings and blueprints. Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine layout and dimensions of projects.
- Cut, shape, and form steel materials using a variety of tools and machinery, including saws, grinders, presses, and shears.
- Perform various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, Stick) to assemble metal components according to project requirements and quality standards.
- Inspect finished products for quality, accuracy, and adherence to specifications, making adjustments as necessary.
- Operate forklifts and overhead cranes safely for material handling.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring all tools and equipment are in good working condition.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and other departments to ensure efficient project execution.
- Perform routine maintenance on fabrication equipment and report any malfunctions or repair needs.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in MIG, TIG, and Stick welding processes
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Expertise in using hand and power tools common to metal fabrication (e.g., grinders, drills, saws)
- Strong understanding of metal properties and fabrication techniques
- Excellent mathematical and measurement skills
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety
- Problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant certification in welding or metal fabrication from a recognized institution
- Experience with CNC plasma cutters or other automated fabrication equipment
- Familiarity with quality control procedures and inspection tools
- Knowledge of various types of steel and their applications
- Ability to operate forklifts or overhead cranes (certification preferred)
