Key Responsibilities
- Perform thorough decontamination, cleaning, and disinfection of surgical instruments and medical equipment following established protocols and safety guidelines.
- Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and damage, reporting any issues to the supervisor.
- Assemble instrument trays and individual sterile packages according to procedure cards and surgeon specifications.
- Operate and monitor sterilizers (autoclaves, low-temperature sterilizers) and ensure proper cycle parameters are met.
- Maintain accurate records of sterilization cycles, inventory, and equipment maintenance.
- Manage and organize sterile inventory, ensuring proper rotation and storage of instruments and supplies.
- Adhere to all infection control policies, safety regulations, and quality assurance standards.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities.
- Communicate effectively with team members and other hospital departments regarding instrument availability and needs.
- Assist with other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the sterile processing department.
