Job Description

Lukmaan Restaurant is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Part-Time Street Food Preparation Helper to join our dynamic team. This unique role offers the chance to work in an exciting, fast-paced setting, potentially involving operations on beautiful Nakupenda Island, a popular tourist destination just off the coast of Zanzibar City. While our primary kitchen is based in Zanzibar City, this role supports our broader operations, including potential mobile or pop-up street food services.
As a Street Food Preparation Helper, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient preparation of our delicious street food offerings. You will work closely with our experienced chefs and kitchen staff, learning traditional Zanzibari cooking techniques and contributing to the vibrant flavors that Lukmaan Restaurant is famous for. Key Responsibilities
- Assist chefs and cooks in the preparation of various street food ingredients, including washing, chopping, and portioning vegetables, meats, and other components.
- Support in the assembly and cooking of street food items under supervision, ensuring adherence to recipes and quality standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of all kitchen areas, workstations, utensils, and equipment throughout the shift.
- Handle food items safely and hygienically, following all food safety regulations and Lukmaan Restaurant's internal protocols.
- Assist with receiving and storing deliveries, ensuring proper rotation and inventory management of fresh produce and ingredients.
- Help with setting up and breaking down food stalls or preparation areas, especially for outdoor or remote operations on locations like Nakupenda Island.
- Perform general kitchen duties such as dishwashing, waste disposal, and sweeping/mopping as required.
- Communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth workflow and timely service.
- Adhere to all health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and colleagues.
