Key Responsibilities

  • Perform structural analysis and design for various building types using industry-standard software and methodologies.
  • Prepare detailed structural drawings, specifications, and reports in compliance with Canadian building codes and regulations.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to assess existing conditions, monitor construction progress, and ensure adherence to design specifications.
  • Collaborate effectively with architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines to integrate structural designs seamlessly into overall project plans.
  • Review and approve shop drawings, material submissions, and construction methods to maintain design integrity.
  • Identify and resolve complex structural engineering challenges, proposing innovative and cost-effective solutions.
  • Mentor junior engineers and technical staff, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Structural Engineering.
  • 3+ years of progressive experience in structural design and analysis for building projects.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE, RAM Structural System).
  • Strong understanding of Canadian building codes and standards (e.g., NBC, CSA S16, A23.3).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Eligibility for P.Eng. licensure in British Columbia.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Structural Engineering.
  • Experience with Revit or other BIM software for structural modeling.
  • Previous experience working on projects in British Columbia.
  • Familiarity with seismic design principles specific to Western Canada.
  • P.Eng. designation in British Columbia (or actively working towards it).
