Key Responsibilities

  • Assist dentists with a wide range of dental procedures, including restorative, surgical, endodontic, and preventative treatments.
  • Prepare and maintain the dental surgery, ensuring all instruments are sterilised, set up, and ready for use.
  • Provide chairside assistance, anticipating the needs of the dentist and ensuring patient comfort.
  • Perform infection control and sterilisation procedures in accordance with Australian standards.
  • Process and develop radiographs (X-rays) as required, ensuring patient safety protocols are followed.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, manage appointments, and handle administrative tasks as needed.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-operative care instructions.
  • Manage stock and order dental supplies, ensuring efficient inventory levels.
  • Adhere strictly to all clinic policies, health and safety regulations, and professional ethical guidelines.
  • Support reception and administrative duties when necessary, contributing to overall clinic efficiency.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Dental Nurse/Assistant.
  • Excellent chairside manner and patient care skills.
  • Strong understanding of infection control and sterilisation protocols.
  • Proficiency in dental software and basic computer applications.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated reliability and punctuality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certificate III or IV in Dental Assisting (or equivalent international qualification).
  • Experience with digital radiography and intra-oral scanning.
  • Knowledge of Australian dental regulations and standards.
  • Previous experience working with diverse patient demographics.
