Job Description

Are you a highly organized and detail-oriented supply chain professional with a passion for efficiency? Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated Supply Chain Officer to join our vibrant team at our distribution center in Taita-Taveta County. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of goods from our suppliers through our distribution network to our valued customers. You will manage inventory, coordinate logistics, and optimize operational processes to maximize productivity and minimize costs. This position requires a proactive individual who can troubleshoot issues, implement strategic improvements, and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. This includes managing stock levels, coordinating inbound and outbound shipments, and supervising warehouse personnel. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and optimize daily operations within the distribution center, including receiving, storage, order picking, packing, and dispatch.
  • Monitor inventory levels, conduct regular stock reconciliation, and implement strategies to minimize discrepancies and obsolescence.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, transport providers, and internal sales teams to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods.
  • Implement and enforce health, safety, and environmental policies within the distribution center.
  • Analyze supply chain data to identify areas for improvement and implement efficiency-enhancing initiatives.
  • Supervise and train warehouse staff, fostering a high-performance and safety-conscious work environment.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports on distribution activities, inventory status, and operational performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements and company standards.
  • Handle and resolve operational issues, addressing bottlenecks and disruptions effectively.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in distribution center operations or supply chain management.
  • Strong understanding of inventory management principles and warehouse best practices.
  • Proficiency in supply chain management software and MS Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of liaising with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in Supply Chain Management (e.g., CIPS, CSCP).
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
  • Knowledge of local transportation regulations and customs procedures in Kenya.
  • Ability to speak Swahili fluently.
  • A track record of implementing process improvements that resulted in significant cost savings or efficiency gains.
