Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled, dedicated, and compassionate Surgeon to join a dynamic healthcare team in Lethbridge, Alberta. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough pre-operative evaluations, including patient history, physical examinations, and diagnostic interpretation.
  • Perform a wide range of surgical procedures, adhering strictly to established protocols and patient safety guidelines.
  • Provide comprehensive post-operative care, including monitoring patient recovery, managing complications, and coordinating discharge planning.
  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, including anesthesiologists, nurses, and other specialists, to ensure integrated patient care.
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient records, surgical logs, and documentation in accordance with medical-legal standards.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and emergency surgical services as required.
  • Contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives and uphold best practices in surgical care.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and maintain current licensure and board certification.
  • Communicate empathetically and effectively with patients and their families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and recovery expectations.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, ethical guidelines, and regulatory requirements.

Required Skills

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Current licensure as a medical practitioner in Alberta, Canada.
  • Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC) in General Surgery or relevant surgical specialty.
  • Demonstrated expertise in a broad range of surgical techniques and procedures.
  • Exceptional clinical judgment, diagnostic abilities, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, fostering trust and rapport with patients and colleagues.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in high-pressure, fast-paced environments.
  • Commitment to patient safety and quality improvement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Sub-specialty fellowship training in areas such as surgical oncology, trauma surgery, vascular surgery, or other specialized fields.
  • Experience in a teaching hospital or academic medical center setting.
  • Participation in surgical research or publications in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Leadership experience within a surgical department or medical committee.
  • Advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) certification.
