Job Description
Career.zycto is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sustainability Coordinator to join our team in Beaconsfield, Montreal. This is an immediate start position for a professional eager to make a tangible impact on our environmental and social performance. As a Sustainability Coordinator, you will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and monitoring sustainability strategies and programs across our operations. You will work closely with various departments, stakeholders, and external partners to ensure our initiatives align with best practices, regulatory requirements, and our overarching commitment to corporate social responsibility. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage sustainability initiatives and projects, ensuring alignment with company goals, industry best practices, and Quebec's environmental regulations.
- Collect, analyze, and report on key environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance data, including energy consumption, waste generation, water usage, and carbon footprint.
- Conduct regular internal audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement in sustainability performance and compliance.
- Coordinate with internal departments (e.g., operations, procurement, marketing) to integrate sustainability considerations into daily business processes and decision-making.
- Engage with external stakeholders, including suppliers, community organizations, and regulatory bodies, to foster partnerships and promote sustainable practices.
- Research and stay current with emerging sustainability trends, technologies, and regulatory changes to inform strategy development.
- Prepare and present comprehensive sustainability reports, presentations, and communications for various audiences, both internal and external, demonstrating transparent progress.
- Organize and facilitate sustainability-focused training and awareness programs for employees to foster a culture of environmental responsibility.
- Assist in the development and tracking of sustainability-related policies, procedures, and targets, ensuring measurable outcomes.
- Lead specific projects related to waste reduction, energy efficiency, sustainable procurement, circular economy initiatives, or community outreach programs.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 2 years) in a sustainability-focused role, preferably within an organizational or consulting setting.
- Strong understanding of environmental management systems, ESG reporting frameworks (e.g., GRI, SASB), and key sustainability metrics.
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously from conception to completion.
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools, including advanced Excel skills.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English and French (bilingualism is highly preferred for this Montreal-based role).
- Ability to influence, engage, and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders at all levels of an organization.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive, solutions-oriented approach to identifying and addressing sustainability challenges.
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant environmental regulations and standards applicable in Quebec and Canada.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability Studies, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant sustainability or environmental management field.
- Professional certifications in sustainability (e.g., LEED AP, CES, GHG Protocol, ISSP-SA).
- Experience with life cycle assessment (LCA) methodologies or circular economy principles.
- Familiarity with corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives and international sustainability frameworks.
- Previous experience working in a consulting capacity or across multiple industries, providing a broad perspective.
