Key Responsibilities

  • Assist tailors and seamstresses with various garment construction tasks, including cutting, stitching, and finishing.
  • Prepare fabrics for cutting, including laying out, marking, and trimming according to specifications.
  • Operate and maintain basic industrial sewing machines (e.g., single-needle, overlock) safely and efficiently.
  • Perform hand-sewing, pressing, and apply finishing touches on garments to ensure high-quality standards.
  • Inspect finished products for quality control, identifying and rectifying minor defects or inconsistencies.
  • Organize and maintain the workstation, ensuring a clean, tidy, and efficient working environment.
  • Support inventory management of materials, accessories, and finished goods.
  • Follow all safety protocols and company guidelines during daily operations.

Required Skills

  • Basic knowledge of sewing techniques and garment construction.
  • Proficiency in operating domestic or industrial sewing machines.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively in a team.
  • Good time management and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques and processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certificate or diploma in fashion design, tailoring, textile arts, or a related vocational field.
  • Previous experience (e.g., 6 months to 1 year) in a tailoring shop, garment factory, or similar production environment.
  • Familiarity with various fabric types and their proper handling.
  • Understanding of basic pattern reading and garment alteration.
