Job Description
We are actively seeking a passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team at The Wren School. This is a unique opportunity for individuals who are committed to making a tangible difference in students’ lives and who require visa sponsorship to work in the UK. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the learning experience for all our students, particularly those who require additional support to access the curriculum and achieve their academic goals. You will work closely with classroom teachers across various subjects and age groups, assisting with lesson preparation, in-class support, and small group interventions. Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, focusing on literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional development.
- Assist teachers in preparing classroom materials, resources, and display boards.
- Help to create an inclusive and stimulating learning environment that caters to diverse student needs.
- Observe and monitor student progress, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to assessment processes.
- Support students with special educational needs (SEN) or disabilities, implementing individual education plans (IEPs) as directed.
- Assist with the supervision of students during lessons, break times, and school trips, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Communicate effectively with teachers, parents/guardians, and other staff members regarding student progress and concerns.
- Contribute to the school's pastoral care system, promoting positive behaviour and social skills.
- Participate in relevant training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Administer routine first aid, where appropriate and trained, and assist with personal care tasks if required.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 12 months experience working with children or young people in an educational or childcare setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents.
- A strong understanding of child development and learning processes.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting student success.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, to a high standard.
- Basic IT skills for administrative tasks and supporting learning technologies.
- A proactive and adaptable approach to challenges.
Preferred Qualifications
- Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
- Experience supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and child protection policies.
- First Aid qualification.
- Experience working in a multicultural environment.
