This pivotal role involves precision installation of various types of tiles, including ceramic, porcelain, natural stone, and mosaic, across diverse commercial settings such as retail spaces, offices, healthcare facilities, and public institutions in Downtown, Eagan. The successful candidate will be adept at preparing surfaces, applying waterproofing membranes, setting tiles according to specifications, and performing meticulous grouting and sealing. Key Responsibilities
- Measure, cut, and fit diverse tile types precisely according to project specifications.
- Prepare surfaces thoroughly: clean, level, and apply appropriate adhesives and waterproofing membranes.
- Install ceramic, porcelain, natural stone, and mosaic tiles on floors, walls, and other commercial surfaces.
- Perform expert grouting, caulking, and sealing to ensure durable and aesthetically pleasing finishes.
- Interpret blueprints, schematics, and work orders accurately to guide installation.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment, strictly adhering to all safety protocols.
- Collaborate effectively with project managers, other tradespeople, and clients to meet deadlines and quality standards.
- Inspect finished work for any defects or imperfections and address them promptly.
Required Skills
- Proficiency with all standard tile cutting tools and equipment (e.g., wet saws, tile nippers, grinders).
- Strong understanding of surface preparation techniques for various substrates.
- Expertise in different tile setting methods and materials.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a steadfast commitment to high-quality finishes.
- Physical dexterity, strength, and stamina for handling materials and working in various positions.
- Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and regulations in commercial construction.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program or relevant trade certification.
- Proven experience working with large-format tiles and intricate patterns/layouts.
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
