As a Traffic Control Person, you will be the frontline ambassador for safety, responsible for directing the flow of vehicle and pedestrian traffic around construction zones, road maintenance projects, and various other worksites. Key Responsibilities

  • Safely and effectively direct vehicle and pedestrian traffic using hand signals and flagging equipment.
  • Set up, maintain, and remove traffic control signs, cones, and barricades according to safety regulations and work plans.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with drivers, pedestrians, and co-workers to ensure smooth operations and safety.
  • Monitor traffic patterns and work zone conditions, adjusting controls as necessary.
  • Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and provincial traffic control guidelines.
  • Operate two-way radios or other communication devices to coordinate with crew members.
  • Report any unsafe conditions, incidents, or equipment malfunctions to supervisors immediately.
  • Maintain a high level of vigilance and situational awareness at all times within the work zone.

Required Skills

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Excellent verbal communication and active listening skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely.
  • Reliable, punctual, and a strong work ethic.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Valid Traffic Control Person (TCP) certification (can be obtained after hiring, training provided).
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Previous experience in a physically demanding outdoor role.
