Key Responsibilities

  • Assist lead tour guides in managing group logistics and schedules efficiently.
  • Verify and prepare necessary tour documentation, including manifests, permits, and vouchers.
  • Coordinate proactively with local suppliers (transport, accommodation, activity providers) to confirm bookings and services.
  • Provide attentive support to guests, addressing inquiries, and ensuring their comfort and satisfaction throughout the tour.
  • Assist with baggage handling and guest transfers, ensuring smooth transitions.
  • Maintain accurate records of tour expenses and provide all necessary receipts and reports.
  • Handle on-the-ground problem-solving and manage minor incidents or schedule changes efficiently and professionally.
  • Learn and share local knowledge, cultural insights, and historical facts with guests under the guide's supervision.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all safety protocols and company policies during excursions.
  • Prepare and organize equipment or materials required for specific tour activities.
  • Assist in collecting feedback from guests to contribute to continuous service improvement.

Required Skills

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with an eye for detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) in a multicultural context.
  • Proficiency in Portuguese and English (spoken and written) is mandatory.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented and fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving capabilities and a proactive, can-do attitude.
  • Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite, email, and internet navigation).
  • A genuine passion for travel and showcasing the unique beauty of Mozambique.
  • Ability to handle physical demands of the job, including lifting baggage and prolonged standing/walking.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience (at least 1 year) in a tourism, hospitality, or customer service role.
  • Knowledge of an additional language (e.g., French, Spanish, or Swahili).
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Valid Mozambican driving license (Category B or higher).
  • Familiarity with Maputo's key attractions, history, and culture.
  • Diploma or certificate in Tourism, Hospitality, or a related field.
