Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimise cost-effective and time-efficient transport routes using specialised planning software.
- Manage daily vehicle dispatch, ensuring compliance with legal regulations (e.g., driver hours, weight limits).
- Monitor real-time transport operations, making necessary adjustments to routes and schedules as unforeseen circumstances arise.
- Liaise effectively with drivers, warehouse staff, and customer service to ensure seamless communication and prompt issue resolution.
- Analyse transport data to identify trends, improve efficiency, and reduce operational costs.
- Ensure all transport activities comply with health and safety standards and company policies.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation related to transport operations and driver performance.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the logistics department, identifying areas for process enhancement.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 3 years) in transport planning, route design, and vehicle dispatch within a logistics environment.
- Proficiency in transport planning software (e.g., Paragon, Mandata, Roadnet, or similar advanced systems).
- Strong geographical knowledge of the UK road network, including current traffic patterns and strategic routes.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a capacity for quick, effective solutions under pressure.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of clear and concise instruction and negotiation.
