Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Travel Consultant to join our dynamic team in Cassis, Port Louis. As a Travel Consultant, you will be the cornerstone of our client’s journey, responsible for designing, selling, and coordinating exceptional travel experiences. This role demands a proactive individual with an innate passion for travel, a comprehensive understanding of global destinations, and a keen eye for detail. You will engage directly with clients, both in-person and remotely, to understand their travel aspirations, preferences, and budget. Your expertise will be vital in advising on suitable destinations, recommending accommodation options, suggesting tour packages, and providing detailed information on visas, travel insurance, and health requirements. You will be tasked with efficiently managing bookings for flights, hotels, car rentals, cruises, and other travel-related services using various global distribution systems (GDS) and online platforms. Beyond booking, you will be instrumental in building rapport, handling inquiries, resolving potential issues, and ensuring a smooth, enjoyable experience from the initial consultation to post-travel follow-up. Key Responsibilities
- Consult clients to understand their travel needs, preferences, and budget to recommend suitable travel packages and destinations.
- Book flights, accommodations, car rentals, cruises, tours, and other travel components using GDS (e.g., Amadeus, Sabre) and online booking platforms.
- Provide expert advice on travel itineraries, travel insurance, visa requirements, health regulations, and local customs.
- Prepare and present detailed travel proposals, quotes, and itineraries to clients.
- Process bookings, issue tickets, vouchers, and other travel documents accurately and efficiently.
- Handle client inquiries, resolve complaints, and address any travel-related issues promptly and professionally.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of travel industry trends, destination information, and supplier promotions.
- Achieve and exceed individual and team sales targets.
- Manage client accounts, ensuring accurate record-keeping and follow-up.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers to ensure seamless service delivery.
Required Skills
- Minimum 2 years of proven experience as a Travel Consultant or similar role.
- Proficiency in Global Distribution Systems (GDS) such as Amadeus, Sabre, or Galileo.
- Excellent knowledge of international and local travel destinations, hotels, and airline routes.
- Strong sales and customer service skills with a client-centric approach.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Fluent in English and French, both written and spoken.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Tourism, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
- IATA certification or equivalent travel industry accreditation.
- Experience with CRM software for client management.
- Knowledge of an additional language (e.g., German, Mandarin, Hindi) would be an advantage.
