Key Responsibilities
- Plan and schedule truck routes and dispatches to ensure timely and efficient delivery of goods.
- Communicate effectively with truck drivers, providing clear instructions and support throughout their routes.
- Monitor real-time freight movements using tracking software, adjusting schedules as needed to address delays or issues.
- Coordinate with customers, brokers, and carriers to arrange pickups and deliveries, ensuring all parties are informed.
- Negotiate rates with carriers and customers, striving for cost-effective and profitable solutions.
- Address and resolve any immediate operational problems, such as breakdowns, accidents, or delivery changes, with minimal disruption.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of dispatches, driver logs, and freight movements.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and company transportation regulations (DOT, HOS).
- Prepare reports on dispatch activities, performance metrics, and any incidents.
- Proactively identify and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in truck dispatching or logistics coordination.
- Proficiency with transportation management systems (TMS) and GPS tracking software.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong organizational abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick, informed decisions under pressure.
- Sound knowledge of DOT regulations, HOS (Hours of Service), and freight logistics.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment with minimal supervision.
