Career.zycto is actively seeking experienced and highly motivated Truck Drivers to join our growing logistics and transportation team in Kwale County, Kenya. Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy-duty trucks (e.g., articulated trucks, rigid trucks) to transport goods across designated routes safely and efficiently.
- Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicles and associated equipment to ensure roadworthiness and compliance with safety standards.
- Load and unload cargo, or oversee the loading/unloading process, ensuring proper securing and distribution of freight.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, transportation regulations, company policies, and safety protocols at all times.
- Maintain accurate logbooks, delivery manifests, and other required documentation, including vehicle maintenance records.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, warehouse staff, and clients regarding delivery schedules, potential delays, and any issues encountered.
- Safely transport goods to their destinations, ensuring timely deliveries and minimizing transit damage.
- Represent the company professionally during interactions with clients, customers, and the general public.
- Monitor vehicle performance and general maintenance, reporting any mechanical issues or necessary repairs promptly.
Required Skills
- Valid Kenyan Class BCE driving license with a clean driving record.
- Minimum 3 years (36 months) of verifiable commercial truck driving experience.
- Proven ability to operate heavy-duty vehicles safely and efficiently.
- Strong understanding of road safety regulations and transport laws in Kenya.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance checks and troubleshooting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical fitness to handle the demands of the job, including loading/unloading if required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate or diploma in Logistics and Transport Management.
- Experience with various types of cargo and delivery routes within Kwale County and surrounding regions.
- Knowledge of vehicle tracking systems and basic navigation software.
- First Aid and defensive driving certifications.
- A track record of punctual deliveries and responsible vehicle care.
