Career.zycto is looking for a diligent Truck Loader with a strong commitment to safety and efficiency to join our growing team in Siaya County, Kenya. This full-time position is critical to our operations, involving the accurate and safe loading and unloading of various goods onto and from trucks, ensuring timely dispatch and receipt of products.
In this role, you will be responsible for handling a wide range of materials, including heavy and bulky items, requiring significant physical strength and endurance. We operate in a fast-paced warehouse and distribution environment, where teamwork and attention to detail are paramount. You will work closely with warehouse supervisors, drivers, and other team members to maintain a smooth flow of goods, adhering strictly to company policies, safety protocols, and quality standards. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently load and unload trucks, containers, and other vehicles using appropriate lifting techniques and equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, hand trucks).
- Verify incoming and outgoing shipments against manifests or invoices to ensure accuracy of quantity and type of goods.
- Organize and stack goods in designated areas within the warehouse, ensuring proper space utilization and accessibility.
- Perform manual lifting of heavy items, often exceeding 25 kg, repetitively throughout the shift.
- Operate warehouse equipment (e.g., forklifts, if certified and required) in a safe and responsible manner.
- Inspect materials for damage or discrepancies and report any issues to the supervisor immediately.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the loading dock and warehouse areas.
- Assist with inventory counts and general warehouse duties as needed.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and drivers to ensure smooth operations and timely dispatches.
Required Skills
- Proven ability to perform heavy manual lifting repeatedly (up to 25 kg or more).
- Strong understanding and adherence to warehouse safety procedures.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
- Excellent physical stamina, strength, and endurance.
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Basic numeracy and literacy for verifying shipments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (1+ year) in a warehouse, logistics, or similar heavy lifting role.
- High School Certificate or equivalent.
- Experience operating pallet jacks, hand trucks, or other material handling equipment.
- Forklift certification (an added advantage).
