Key Responsibilities
- Assess vehicle body damage accurately and create detailed repair plans.
- Perform panel beating, dent removal, and structural realignments using specialized tools and equipment.
- Execute welding, cutting, and fabrication tasks to repair or replace damaged body sections.
- Prepare vehicle surfaces for painting, including sanding, priming, and masking.
- Ensure all repairs meet manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
- Conduct quality checks on completed work to ensure high standards of finish and functionality.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Collaborate effectively with paint technicians, mechanics, and service advisors.
- Keep accurate records of all repair work performed and parts used.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including health and safety regulations.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in panel beating, dent removal, and welding techniques (MIG, TIG, Spot welding).
- Strong understanding of vehicle body construction and repair methodologies.
- Ability to operate various body repair tools and equipment, including frame straighteners.
- Excellent attention to detail and a keen eye for quality finishes.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to diagnose complex damage.
- Effective communication skills to liaise with team members and customers.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a busy workshop setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Apprenticeship or trade certificate in Vehicle Body Repair, Panel Beating, or a related field.
- Experience with various vehicle makes and models, including modern automotive technologies.
- Valid Class 4 driver's license with a clean driving record.
