Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough physical examinations and diagnostic tests to accurately diagnose animal health conditions.
- Develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans, including medication, nutrition, and lifestyle recommendations.
- Perform routine and emergency surgical procedures, including spays, neuters, soft tissue, and minor orthopedic surgeries.
- Administer vaccinations, preventative medications, and parasite control.
- Educate pet owners on animal health, disease prevention, post-operative care, and nutritional needs.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient medical records, ensuring compliance with veterinary standards.
- Respond to and manage veterinary emergencies with efficiency and professionalism.
- Collaborate effectively with veterinary technicians, assistants, and administrative staff to ensure optimal patient care and clinic flow.
- Provide compassionate end-of-life care and support to pet owners.
- Stay current with advances in veterinary medicine through continuing education and professional development.
Required Skills
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree.
- Current and unrestricted veterinary license to practice in Jamaica.
- Proven ability to diagnose and treat a wide range of small animal medical conditions.
- Proficiency in routine and emergency surgical procedures.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate approach to clients and patients.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Sound knowledge of veterinary pharmacology and therapeutics.
- High level of integrity, ethics, and professionalism.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in a small animal general practice setting.
- Special interest or experience in dentistry, ultrasonography, or advanced imaging.
- Experience with veterinary practice management software (e.g., Avimark, Cornerstone).

- Bilingual abilities (e.g., English and Spanish).
