Job Description

Are you a budding video editor with a passion for storytelling and a desire to contribute to meaningful social impact? Videre est Credere Moçambique is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Part-Time Video Editing Assistant to join our dynamic team in Muecate, Nampula Province. In this vital support role, you will work closely with our lead video editors and project coordinators to assist in all stages of post-production. Your day-to-day will involve tasks ranging from meticulously organizing raw footage and managing comprehensive media libraries to performing initial cuts, seamlessly synchronizing audio, enhancing visual elements, and applying basic color corrections to ensure visual integrity. You will be instrumental in ensuring that our video content meets high journalistic standards, is ethically sound, and effectively communicates the powerful narratives documented by our courageous community reporters across the region. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist lead editors in the daily workflow of video post-production.
  • Organize, label, and archive raw video footage, audio files, and graphic assets.
  • Perform initial rough cuts and assemble sequences based on editor guidelines and storyboards.
  • Synchronize audio and video tracks, and apply basic audio clean-up.
  • Conduct basic color correction and grading to ensure visual consistency.
  • Export and compress final video files in various formats for different platforms.
  • Assist in managing and maintaining video editing equipment and software licenses.
  • Research and source appropriate music, sound effects, and stock footage.
  • Ensure all video content adheres to Videre’s brand guidelines and ethical journalistic standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with the wider team, including journalists, producers, and communications specialists.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro).
  • Basic understanding of video production and post-production workflows.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for media management.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Good command of Portuguese (written and spoken) and/or Emakhuwa.
  • Basic understanding of storytelling principles through visual media.
  • A keen eye for visual composition and sound quality.
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diploma or certification in Video Production, Film Studies, Multimedia Arts, or a related field.
  • Previous experience (even amateur or volunteer) in video editing for social media, documentaries, or news.
  • Familiarity with graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator) for basic titling.
  • Knowledge of human rights issues and interest in social justice reporting.
  • Experience working with non-profit organizations or community-led initiatives.
