Key Responsibilities
- Perform vineyard tasks including pruning, trellising, leaf pulling, shoot thinning, and canopy management as directed.
- Assist with irrigation scheduling and monitoring, ensuring optimal water supply for grape health.
- Monitor vine health, identifying and reporting signs of pests, diseases, or nutritional deficiencies.
- Participate in grape sampling and maturity assessment activities leading up to harvest.
- Operate and maintain vineyard equipment, tools, and machinery safely and efficiently.
- Contribute to vineyard floor management, including weeding, mowing, and cover crop maintenance.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and protocols.
- Maintain accurate records of vineyard activities, observations, and treatments.
- Collaborate effectively with the vineyard management team and fellow crew members.
- Assist with general vineyard maintenance and cleanliness.
- Engage in harvest activities, including manual picking and sorting, when required.
Required Skills
- Basic understanding of viticulture principles or agricultural practices.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions (lifting, bending, standing for extended periods).
- Strong attention to detail and precision in vineyard work.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable transportation to West Point Grey, Vancouver.
- Legal eligibility to work in Canada.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (6-12 months) in vineyard work, horticulture, or agricultural settings.
- Knowledge of common vine pests and diseases.
