Akagera Motors is delighted to announce an opening for a skilled and dedicated Vulcanizer to enrich our service team in the picturesque Burera district, located in the Northern Province of Rwanda. This pivotal full-time role offers an exceptional opportunity for a professional with a passion for automotive care and a commitment to precision. We are looking for an individual who is not only adept at traditional tire repair techniques but also capable of adapting to modern vehicle requirements. The position of Vulcanizer is critical to our operations, involving the comprehensive diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of tires for a diverse fleet, ranging from passenger cars to light commercial vehicles. The successful candidate will be proficient in all aspects of tire servicing, including expertly performing hot and cold vulcanization, precise patching, accurate wheel balancing, and efficient tire rotation. Key Responsibilities
- Thoroughly inspect tires to identify punctures, tears, sidewall damage, and other forms of wear or degradation.
- Perform professional vulcanization and patching using appropriate industry-standard techniques, tools, and materials for both tubeless and tube-type tires.
- Safely and efficiently mount and dismount tires on various types of rims and vehicle models.
- Accurately balance wheels using modern balancing equipment to eliminate vibrations and ensure smooth vehicle operation and extended tire life.
- Execute tire rotations according to vehicle manufacturer specifications or customer requests, advising on optimal rotation patterns.
- Provide expert advice to customers on tire maintenance, correct inflation, wear patterns, suitable replacement options, and overall tire safety.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, strictly adhering to all company safety protocols and industry best practices.
- Operate, clean, and perform basic maintenance on all tire service equipment, including tire changers, balancers, and vulcanizers.
- Manage and track tire inventory, reporting stock levels and recommending replenishment as required.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex tire-related issues, including unusual wear and alignment indicators, recommending further action when necessary.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 2 years) as a Vulcanizer or professional Tire Technician.
- In-depth knowledge of various tire repair techniques, including hot and cold vulcanization methods.
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining tire changing, balancing, and vulcanizing equipment.
- Strong understanding of different tire specifications, types (radial, bias-ply), load ratings, and applications.
- Exceptional ability to diagnose tire issues accurately and recommend the most effective and safe solutions.
- Excellent manual dexterity, precision, and meticulous attention to detail.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety procedures and practices in an automotive workshop environment.
- Effective communication skills for clear customer interaction and seamless team collaboration.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical certificate or diploma in Automotive Mechanics, Tyre Technology, or a closely related field.
- Experience working with a diverse range of vehicle makes and models, including light commercial vehicles.
- A valid Rwandan driving license (Category B or higher) is an advantage.
- Familiarity with digital inventory management systems for tires and related parts.
- Ability to work both independently and as a valued member of a team in a dynamic and sometimes fast-paced service environment.
- Demonstrated problem-solving capabilities and a proactive approach to continuous learning.
